LED Package

An LED package can be defined as an assembly comprising one or more LED dies. These LED dies are semiconductor devices responsible for emitting light when an electric current passes through them. The package not only houses these dies but also includes vital components like wire bonds or other types of electrical connections. Additionally, it may incorporate an optical element, along with thermal, mechanical, and electrical interfaces.


Exclusion of Power Source and ANSI Standardized Base


It's important to note that an LED package does not integrate a power source. This means that it cannot operate independently and must be connected to an external power supply for it to emit light. Moreover, an ANSI (American National Standards Institute) standardized base is not part of the LED package. The absence of these elements highlights the specialized nature of LED packages and emphasizes the need for external components to harness their illuminating capabilities.
